PayPal is reportedly looking to make a record making purchase of Pinterest for $45 billion.
The New York Times have documented that the online financial platform PayPal is in talks to buy the digital mood-board creator Pinterest. Details of the deal have been revealed that PayPal would offer shares at $70 each for Pinterest. This would give it a 25% rise from Pinterests opening share price earlier last week.
Since the news broke, shares at Pinterest rose by 13% as the buzz around the deal became circulated. This brings the companies latest valuation to $39 billion.
Whilst the deal is not confirmed, if it goes ahead it will be the highest internet consumer deal to happen, ever. It would top the current most expensive deal which was Salesforce buying Slack for $27.7 billion in 2020.
PayPal has a current valuation of $306 billion which means its acquisition of Pinterest would make it the highest valued online companies in the world.
