Millennials, assemble. Alexa Chung is putting her actual wardrobe up for sale, and it’s happening on Vinted. That’s right – the queen of indie sleaze, the blueprint for mid-2000s cool, is handing over the keys to her sartorial kingdom, and we’re all invited in.

The sale drops on 4 May (set your alarms), and for anyone who spent their teenage years frantically googling “how to cut a fringe like Alexa”, this is a full circle moment. Sure, we’ve seen her partner with M&S, Madewell, and Barbour – the woman practically pioneered the art of the celebrity fashion collab – but this time, the clothes are hers. The proceeds? All going to Endometriosis UK, a charity close to Chung’s heart. And she’s not just offloading a few old bits. We’re talking designer one-offs and cult favourites, including a pair of crackled silver Dries Van Noten trainers (which she admits are “very hard to say goodbye to”), a candy pink Gucci shoulder bag, a cropped Marc Jacobs cardi, and more where that came from.

So why the clear-out now – and why Vinted? “These items carry so many memories and we had great times together,” says Chung, “but now it is time to kiss them goodbye, and the idea that they can live on in someone else’s wardrobe and be new again to them is very appealing.”

It’s not just a closet detox – it’s a celebration of circular fashion. Chung adds, “I love the magic and rush of unearthing something unexpected that might knock your comfortable style out of its regular lane slightly.” So if your regular lane has been feeling a little stale lately, you might find yourself turning to her Magda Butrym polka dot mini, or maybe that embroidered Miu Miu bralet. Yes, she’s also letting go of her negligee-style DÔEN slips and frill-hemmed nighties because underwear as outerwear is still very much a thing.
