Coach Unveils The Sustainable Handbags ‘Revolutionising Luxury’ at CES 2025

This year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas isn’t just about the latest gadgets and breakthrough technologies – it’s also a becoming the stage for fashion and beauty companies to flaunt their current innovations.

In past years YSL Beauty and L’Oreal have showed off their latest pioneering cosmetics, but taking the spotlight at CES 2025 is Coach. The iconic ‘Original American House of Leather’ has teamed up with Gen Phoenix, a trailblazing manufacturer of sustainable recycled leather fiber.

CES is the perfect backdrop for these two industry leaders to unveil their transformative partnership. With a reputation as the proving ground for innovation, CES 2025 provides a global stage for Coach CEO Todd Kahn and Gen Phoenix CMO Elyse Winer to share their vision for a more sustainable future in fashion.

On January 9 the duo headlined a panel discussion called, “Revolutionizing Luxury: Sustainability and Innovation in Fashion,” at the CES Great Minds Stage. Attendees got t a behind-the-scenes look at how Coach and Gen Phoenix are tearing down traditional barriers between brands and vendors to reimagine luxury through a sustainable lens.

“As a company with 80 years of heritage, Coach is known for its craftsmanship, quality, and design,” said Kahn, “This partnership with Gen Phoenix represents a significant step in our journey to balance Coach’s rich history with a commitment to finding innovative and sustainable solutions that help us create a better-made future.”

Gen Phoenix’s recycled leather fibers boast an 80% lower carbon footprint than conventional leather, aligning with the growing demand for eco-conscious luxury.

Winer and Kahn unveiled new product innovations, offering a sneak peek at Coach designs made with Gen Phoenix’s sustainable materials. CES attendees will also had the chance to win exclusive products crafted from these cutting-edge, eco-friendly materials—designed specifically for the event.

“In an industry where partnerships rarely extend beyond one-off capsules and pilot programs, we’re thrilled to use the CES stage as a chance to show attendees what’s next for Gen Phoenix and Coach,” explained Winer, “By pulling back the curtain on how we’ve scaled this collaboration, we hope to provide a blueprint for other brands aiming to drive meaningful change.”

A Strategic Partnership

Since 2007, Gen Phoenix has been transforming waste into innovative, lightweight, and durable materials to make sustainability more achievable. The partnership between Coach and Gen Phoenix began in March 2023, when Tapestry, Inc., Coach’s parent company, made a strategic investment in Gen Phoenix. The collaboration quickly gained momentum with the launch of Coachtopia, Coach’s circular sub-brand, which debuted a line of handbags featuring Gen Phoenix’s recycled leather fibers.

Now, at CES 2025, the two brands are showcasing what the future of sustainable luxury looks like.
