The Modems Hosts Inaugural ‘Tech Talk’ on The Future of Fertility

On Wednesday 24 September evening, The Modems hosted its first-ever Tech Talk at the iconic Tramp Private Members’ Club in Mayfair. The debut event, titled The Future of Fertility, brought together leaders across science, wellness, and technology for an intimate evening of champagne-fuelled conversation, knowledge sharing, and community connection.

The night marked a significant milestone for The Modems, which also announced Katy Young, Director of Beauty at Hearst, as our new Strategic Advisor – a move that further cements this platform’s mission to merge culture, lifestyle, and technology in meaningful ways.

An evening of insight

Guests were welcomed into Jackie’s Lounge at Tramp, where Mumm Champagne flowed and artisanal pizzas from the club’s newly redesigned menu set the tone for a night that was as indulgent as it was intellectually stimulating.

The heart of the evening was a powerful panel conversation featuring experts at the forefront of fertility and reproductive technology. Poppy Jamie spoke candidly about her personal fertility journey, highlighting the emotional realities behind genetic challenges.

“I loved pregnancy. I had the best time. I had no symptoms. Everything was going really well, and I got to 5 months. And I went in for a scan. And the chin had not grown… It was a genetic problem… So this is why we need to know about this science. You can do basic genetic tests, but it’s not gonna tell you what 6000 genes are gonna tell,” Jamie shared.

She added:

“I am so grateful I get choices and we are women in a country that have choices, and in America they don’t have choices… If we can expand our choice, my God, I will take it and literally celebrate it. I want every single woman in this country to know what is on offer.”

Other panellists included Dr. Helen O’Neill, CEO of Hertility; Dr. Larisa Corda, fertility doctor and TV contributor; Liberty Mills, author of 360 Fertility; Dr. Stephanie Kuku, CKO & COO of Conceivable Life Sciences; Dr. Markella Mikkelsen, CEO of MolMart Ltd.; and Dr. Cristina Hickman, of Avenues IVF Clinic – each bringing a unique perspective on the science and technology shaping reproductive futures.

The Modems’ mission

In her closing remarks, Natalie Salmon, Founder of The Modems, underlined the platform’s commitment to reshaping how we discuss technology – particularly when it comes to subjects that directly impact women.

“I think it’s really obvious just from how much I’ve learned in one evening how important it is that we continue to have very open conversations around not just fertility but technology in general. We really want to bring science, technology, and these amazing subjects to the fore. I love reading celebrity culture and pop culture,

I love reading about fashion and beauty. I love it, but think we should also be reading about technology.”

As guests departed, they received curated goodie bags designed to empower them on their fertility and wellness journeys, featuring items from Tapper, The What Supp Co., SKN TO SKN, ARTAH, Hertility, and exclusive offers from MolMart, Hertility, and Avenues.
