Les Néréides x Huawei Freeclip 2

Jewellery or technology? In 2026, the line is officially blurred. Huawei and Les Nereides just unveiled a collaboration that feels less like a gadget launch and more like a full fledged fashion moment.

The new FreeClip 2 jewellery attachments transform open-ear headphones into a wearable art object – with hand-painted blue iris flowers, golden brass pistils and cubic zirconia crystals, inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Irises.

Les Néréides describes the piece as one that “transforms artistic inspiration into dazzling jewellery, celebrating the beauty of nature.” It’s also a reminder that blue – “a true must-have in the world of Les Néréides jewelry” – now belongs as much in audio design as it does in your jewellery box.

Underneath the florals, FreeClip 2 is doing serious work. The earbuds feature a “25% more flexible C-bridge design,” are made from skin-friendly liquid silicone, and weigh just 5.1 g each, for an almost weightless feel. The Comfort Bean module – designed using data from “over 10,000 ear samples” – is 11% smaller, while the acoustic ball houses a dual-diaphragm transducer for surprisingly powerful sound.

Add adaptive volume that responds to the roar of the subway and head-movement controls that let you nod to answer calls, and you’ve got a device that understands modern life – busy, mobile, overstimulated – and dresses for it accordingly. As far as fashion-tech statements go, this one clips perfectly into the moment.
