F1 Academy Is Getting It’s Own ‘Drive To Survive’ Style Netflix Series

Start your engines – and your Netflix queues – because the all-female racing series F1 ACADEMY is getting the full docuseries treatment, courtesy of Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine. Hitting the streaming platform globally in 2025, the multi-part series promises to blend behind-the-scenes grit with racetrack glamour, all while spotlighting the badass women blazing a trail in one of the world’s most testosterone-fuelled sports.

Think Drive to Survive with fewer Red Bulls and more girl power.

The series will go beyond the chequered flag, digging into the personal lives, pressures, and sheer perseverance of the drivers, their teams, families, and sponsors. Expect drama, adrenaline, and plenty of heart – all filtered through the lens of Witherspoon’s female-focused storytelling powerhouse.

“We want to be the rocket fuel that drives female participation in our sport, both on and off the track,” said Susie Wolff, MBE, Managing Director of F1 ACADEMY. “To have the F1 ACADEMY docuseries launch globally with Netflix is not just a huge step forward in visibility for our mission, but also a resounding statement about the momentum and demand for women’s sport. We want to inspire and empower the next generation of young women, and Netflix will open up F1 ACADEMY to a global audience of existing and future fans.”

And it’s not just a win for motorsport. It’s a tech-savvy leap forward for women’s representation in entertainment and STEM-driven arenas. With live streams of the 2024 season already racing across YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and F1 TV in over 160 countries, this Netflix deal puts the series in pole position for cultural impact.

Reese Witherspoon, founder of Hello Sunshine, put it best: “We started Hello Sunshine to change the narrative for women, and Susie Wolff and F1 ACADEMY are doing just that by creating new opportunities in the thrilling world of motorsport. As these dynamic and fearless drivers break barriers behind the wheel, we are excited to partner with Netflix to tell the stories of these powerhouse leaders. What we know is that when we put women at the center, people show up to watch.”

So if you thought motorsport was just for the boys – think again. The revolution will be televised. And it’ll be doing over 100mph.
