BREAKING NEWS! The chronologically ordered news feed is making a come back in 2022, and we could not be happier.
The Facebook-owned photo sharing platform changed their feed in 2016, and it has since faced a flurry of backlash, with creators often speaking out about the Instagram algorithm ‘doing them dirty’. The changed was bought about by a new algorithm, which was supposed to have a more tailored approach to generating content a user would engage with based on what they have liked in the past.
Adam Mosseri, the head of the social media mega-house confirmed the news in a series of tweets, revealing that it had been in the works for a ‘few months’.
He also revealed there could be updates to the ‘Favourites’ feature, “We want people to have meaningful control over their experience,” it said. “We’ve been experimenting with Favorites, a way for you to decide whose posts you want to see higher up, and we’re working on another option to see posts from people you follow in chronological order.”
Later this year, Instagram received backlash over the increased ad’s and sponsorships that was breaking up users feed’s, resulting in them not seeing the posts they were actually interested in.
“We want to be clear that we’re creating new options,” Instagram noted, “providing people with more choices so they can decide what works best for them – not switching everyone back to a chronological feed. You can expect more on this early next year!”
Will you opt for a chronological feed?
