The ’Horizon Light Up Speaker’ by Louis Vuitton is a thing of beauty
Sometimes a gadget comes out that is so sleek, so seductive it make you want to find a way to justify the eye-watering – in this case nearly $3000 – price tag.
Inspired by the maison’s Toupie bag, the new Louis Vuitton Horizon Light Up Speaker is making us question all our other audio options. Like the Toupie it comes with a leather strap meaning you can tote it around a party like a handbag (although it weighs 1 kilo so maybe you won’t want to carry it all night.)
When it’s not around your wrist the speaker is an art object you can display on your book shelf, giving off a very futuristic UFO vibe encased in the traditional LV monogram flowers. The aim from Louis Vuitton was to merge fashion and technology, something we’ve seen before in their previous forray into tech, with the LV x Master Dynamic earbuds collaboration.
But when it’s not serving as home decor does it actually play music? Yes it does, and it also boasts an impressive LED light display which synchronises to the beat of the music making it the perfect house party show piece.
It also supports three microphones for voice calls, 15 hours of playback from a single charge and has 360° sound directivity when vertical, and directional sound when on the side (as speaker senses its orientation, it will adapt sound signature accordingly.) The are exclusive additional functions and controls on the Louis Vuitton Connect app which is available on both the Apple Store and Google play.
