Broadcaster Gayle King summed up the mood post-launch with a mix of humour and empowerment: “I walked out of there thinking I could do anything,” she said. “Maybe even get my ears pierced.” She added that the biggest surprise wasn’t the G-force or vertigo—it was how “calming and peaceful” it all felt.

The peaceful vibe was echoed by film producer Kerianne Flynn, who said the journey felt cinematic: “I was not only a witness to that film, but I was also a storyteller.”

The six women experienced zero gravity, saw the moon, and were serenaded by Perry herself, who delivered a haunting rendition of “What a Wonderful World” while floating mid-air.

“I’m not sure if any other pop stars have been to space,” said Katy Perry, when asked about the impromptu performance. “I wasn’t sure I was going to sing at all, but I knew I wasn’t going to sing one of my own songs—this wasn’t about me.”

Still, she did manage to make it a bit about her daughter. Perry revealed she brought a daisy along for the ride in honour of her three-year-old, Daisy. After landing, her daughter’s reaction? “What are we doing today?” To which Perry replied: “Daisy, go to space.”

For Lauren Sánchez, the mission took on a more reflective tone. “Earth looked so quiet,” she said. “It was profound. I feel humbled. I want to protect this planet.”

And while critics question whether commercial spaceflights will ever be accessible beyond the billionaire bracket, Sánchez (who also happens to be engaged to Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos) responded, “We’re building the road to space.”

Whether that road will be paved with opportunity or exclusive golden tickets remains to be seen. But for now, the crew has given space travel a much-needed refresh—female, fearless, and frankly fabulous.
