Saudi Arabia is swapping barrels for bandwidth. In a bold move to position itself as the next global player in artificial intelligence, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has launched a brand-new AI venture called Humain — a company set to supercharge the kingdom’s tech evolution and chip away at its oil dependency.

Announced on Monday, the new firm will develop and manage cutting-edge AI technologies as part of the kingdom’s ongoing transformation under its sweeping Vision 2030 plan. The aim? To make Saudi Arabia a global AI powerhouse — with ambitions that stretch beyond the usual Silicon Valley strongholds.

Humain will operate under the country’s influential Public Investment Fund (PIF) and will offer everything from data centres and cloud infrastructure to advanced AI models and products. It’s all part of a bigger strategy to fuel local innovation, attract global partnerships, and turn the kingdom into a magnet for AI talent and enterprise.

According to state news agency SPA, Humain will focus on building AI services that meet both local demand and global standards. It’s chaired by bin Salman himself, Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, and underlines how serious the country is about becoming a tech-first economy.
