If you’re already feeling the post-Spotify Wrapped blues, don’t worry—Spotify has just the thing to keep the music nostalgia going. The streaming giant has brought back its Playlist in a Bottle feature, and it’s already taking over social media.
Think of it as a musical time capsule. You pick songs that capture your current vibe, lock them away, and then get a surprise throwback in January 2026. It’s a fun way to check in with your future self and see just how much your music taste (or emotional state) has changed in a year.

How to Make Your Playlist in a Bottle
When you open the Spotify app, you’ll get a prompt to create your Playlist in a Bottle. The process is simple but surprisingly fun:
- Pick a container – Do you want your playlist stored in a bottle? A lunchbox? A teddy bear? (Yes, really.) Choose your preferred “time capsule.”
- Answer song-based prompts – Spotify will throw some questions your way, like:
- A song you need to hear live in 2025
- A song that reminds you of your favourite person
- A song you’re secretly obsessed with
You can refresh the questions as many times as you like and add as many songs as you want.
- Lock it in – Once you’re happy with your playlist, hit the button to seal it away. Spotify will then hold onto it until January 2026, when you’ll get a notification to unlock it.
A final message confirms: “Your playlist has been sealed. We’ll let you know when your playlist is unsealed in January 2026.”

Social Media is Already Loving It
As expected, Spotify fans are obsessed with the feature, sharing their sealed playlists online and hyping up the moment they get to listen back in 2026.
One user posted: “Playlist in a Bottle idea on Spotify is cool. Excited for my reaction next year.”

With its mix of nostalgia and personalisation, Playlist in a Bottle is a perfect example of how Spotify keeps users engaged beyond just Wrapped season. Whether your 2026 self cringes at your song choices or considers them timeless classics, this is a music time capsule worth making.
