Evaro And Clue Team Up To Bring NHS Contraception Into The Period Tracking App

The UK healthcare map is shifting beneath our feet – and this time, it’s landing squarely in your menstrual app. 

Digital health platform Evaro has teamed up with the cycle tracker Clue in the UK’s first integration of its kind: seamless access to NHS-funded contraception directly through the Clue app.

“Nearly half of UK women can’t access basic contraception and I believe this is a systemic failure that technology can solve,” says Dr Thuria Wenbar, CEO and co-founder of Evaro.

What’s striking here is how the partnership bridges two major gaps: first, the fact that nearly half of UK women face barriers to contraception access – from long GP waiting lists to postcode-based digital NHS services – and second, the reality that most of us already track our cycles on a mobile device.

Under the new service, Clue users in the UK can complete an online consultation inside the app, have prescriptions evaluated by Evaro’s certified clinicians, and have access to up to 40 NHS-funded oral contraceptive options – delivered next day, free. It’s healthcare converted into swipe-ease.

Not just a convenience upgrade, it’s a pivot in how feminine-health tech meets mainstream healthcare. The integration delivers a remote, nationwide service – a potential remedy for the one-in-20 patients who wait over four weeks for a GP appointment, as the 2023 data shows.

From a technology-focus, this is a classic “embedded healthcare” move – where a consumer app becomes a full-service healthcare access point using a single line of code. Still, being impartial means acknowledging key questions: Does digitising contraception risk excluding women without smartphone access or app literacy? Will users properly review the online consultation or simply rely on convenience? And how will data privacy be handled in a system now pulling together cycle data, health records and home delivery?

No technology is neutral, and as Dr Wenbar put it, this is the “banking moment for healthcare.” Women have long been expected to manage both their fertility and the logistics of access – this app integration challenges that norm. “Just as we’d never queue at a bank to transfer £20 today, women shouldn’t wait two months for contraception. By providing this NHS service through our infrastructure in partnership with Clue, we’re transforming how hundreds of thousands of women can access reproductive healthcare in the future.
