Copilot isn’t just another smart assistant hiding in the background. It appears as a friendly, animated character that lip-syncs and reacts as it speaks. Answers pop up as visual cards designed for the big screen – think film ratings, weather forecasts or image results – so you can see the information without squinting at your phone.

“Copilot on Samsung TVs and monitors brings AI out of your pocket and into the heart of your home,” said David Washington, Partner General Manager, Microsoft AI. “It’s there when you and your family want to discover something to watch together, get answers to your questions, plan your weekend, or simply hang out.”

Copilot isn’t just useful for TV binging recommendations, though it excels in that department. You can ask for spoiler-free recaps (“I want to get back into The Crown, I left off at Season 3, Episode 4. What happened up until then?”), hyper-specific suggestions (“Like The Queen’s Gambit, but about cooking instead of chess, and under two hours”), or group-friendly picks that balance everyone’s tastes.

Beyond entertainment, it can handle everyday queries like “Will Saturday in London be good conditions for hiking?” or even emotional requests like “Cheer me up after a breakup.” It’s part search engine, part therapist, part Friday night planner.

The launch is the latest chapter in Microsoft and Samsung’s long-running tech bromance – from Windows on Galaxy devices to Xbox Cloud Gaming on Samsung TVs. Now, Copilot takes centre stage, bringing the AI assistant out of your laptop and into the living room.

How it works

Copilot is rolling out automatically on select Samsung TVs and monitors from the 2025 lineup. You’ll spot it in the Apps tab of Samsung Tizen OS under Samsung Daily+. Just press the mic button on your Samsung remote and start speaking naturally. A QR code lets you link your Microsoft account for personalised answers, memory and preferences.
