Instagram is shaking things up by extending the length of Reels to 3 minutes, a significant leap from the previous 90-second cap. The announcement was made by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who explained the decision came in response to creator feedback.
“Starting today, you can upload Reels to Instagram up to 3 minutes long,” Mosseri said. “Historically, it’s only been 90 seconds because we’ve wanted to focus Instagram on short-form videos, not long-form videos. But we’ve heard a lot of feedback from creators that 90 seconds is just too short.”

The move aims to give creators more flexibility to tell richer, more engaging stories without the constraints of a strict time limit.
